Hon. Nuraini Maja, Vice Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA presenting dummy cheques to Miss Adijat Dauda, a Senior Secondary School 3 student of Community Senior Secondary School, Bayeku, the winner of the 2024 Igbogbopedia and Quiz Competitions and two other winners of Igbogbopedia from the two previous editions.

It was a great outing for Miss Adijat Dauda, a Senior Secondary School 3 student of Community Senior Secondary School, Bayeku, as she emerged the winner of the 2024 Igbogbopedia and Quiz Competitions.

The competitions which are parts of the grand finale of educational activities of the annual Igbogbo Day Celebration held at the Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali Hall, Rotary Vocational Centre, Igbogbo on Monday.

By winning the Igbogbopedia, Miss Adijat emerged as the overall winner with the winning prize of N1million.

Dummy cheques of N1million each were also presented to the winners of the Igbogbopedia competition in 2022 and 2023.

She defeated the representative of the Lagos State Girls Senior Model College, Agunfoye -Olanrewaju Precious and that of Zumratul Islamyiat Senior Grammar School, Igbogbo -Taiwo Israel to the second and third positions respectively.

The brilliant young student also emerged winner in the Quiz (Mathematics and English Language competitions) beating Olaomoju Iyiola of Hebron Heights College and Gbemisola Faniyi of the Queen Betty College to the second and third positions.

In the grand finale of SSS category in Ijebu debate, Queen Betty College represented by Mariam Aduragbemi and Zeenat Animashaun emerged winners, while the Lagos State Civil Service Model College, Igbogbo team comprising of Alasoluyi Agboola and Mistura Oladipupo coming second and Fatom Private School duo of Mariam Fatai and Adetola Ijumade placed third.

In the Pitching Competition, Priscilla Iroko of the Lagos State Civil Service Senior Model College, Igbogbo emerged winner, while fortune Olanipeken and Taupen Seifa of Lagos State Girls Senior Model College, Agunfoye and Andus D’great School, came second and third respectively.

In the Junior Secondary School categories of the competition, the duo of Samiat Sediu and Abike Adeboye from Elepe Community Junior High School emerged as the best school in the Yoruba Debate. They were followed by Ojuolape Emmanuel and Qonitat Kolawole that represented Lajo Community Junior Secondary School while Aisha Elegbede and Idowu Morgan from the Lagos State Civil Service Junior Model College, Igbogbo emerged third.

In the English Debate that also took place, Andus D’great School ‘s team of Akinade Motilayo and Oluwafemi Lawal emerged first, while Chardoth College School represented by Treasure Odionye and Degan Joshua came second and Elepe Community Junior High School with Aishat Ibrahim and Confidence Omonizeye occupied the third position at the end of the debate.

For the Primary School category Uche Jesse of Kith and Kin Nursery and Primary School emerged winner of the Spelling Bee Competition, Monisola Odumeru, the representative of the Mover Private School and Zainab Eniola of the Andus D’great School emerged second and third respectively.

In the Primary School Quiz (Mathematics and English Language), Sekemi Bakare, a student of the Homat Comprehensive Nursery and Primary School came first with Ummeal Mustapha, of the Defolric School and Lionel Iluabeachi of Andus D’great School emerged the first and second position winners.

Adijat Dauda, the 2024 winner of the Igbogbopedia expressed her happiness as regards winning in the competition that she has always heard of.

“I feel so good to be part of this today and so happy to win this. It is the first time I am getting the first positions in two events, especially the Igbogbopedia; the almighty Igbogbopedia that I have always heard about. I am so happy.

“I want to say a very big thank you to my school for choosing me as its representative and to my teachers for grooming me, because if not for their teaching, any of us would not have gotten this first position.

“I also thank the organisers of this event for putting this together,” she said.

She charged other students to always work hard and never give up because, “not quitting when one fails always leads to the greater success.”

Vice Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Hon. Nureni Maja, expressed his satisfaction that a student from the public school emerged as the winner of the Igbogbopedia.

He congratulating the winner and charged her to consider her emergence as the beginning of greater challenges and victory ahead for her to have global recognition.

While commending the committee for the organisation, the Vice Chairman also advised students to always use their talents to the maximum.

Speaking earlier, Mr Kunle Shopitan had thanked the students and their schools for competing like true champions and making Igbogbo proud.

He said that the community through the Igbogbo Day Committee would continue to engage students in competitions and encourage the development of education in Igbogbo.
